OWASE Dynamic Tsunami Hazard Map
The OWASE Dynamic Tsunami Hazard Map was made using a Tsunami Disaster Scenario Simulator developed by the Disaster Social
Engineering Laboratory at Gunma University. The hazard model can forecast the human loss resulting from a tsunami event.
The simulation estimates the number of casualties based on operator controls, which varies the preparation and response
of emergency management, citizens, and the local infrastructure. The influence of various response scenarios on the number
of casualties clearly illustrates the relationship between tsunami hazard preparation and disaster prevention.
